CTR Optimization · Ad Colors

Google AdSense lets you adapt the colors of all ads to your website's design. The result may and should be stored in color palette. Colors are most important for your advertisements' success.

It is very easy to select the colors on the corresponding page at Google. These elements of an ad can be adapted:

Each change is displayed immediately and lets you inspect the layout's change.

If possible you should use a separate channel for each combination of an ad, its position on the page and its colors (e.g. one for each ad block). Only if you do so you will be able to get a detailed report about the success of each single ad.

It may be wise to reflect your website's colors in the ads you use. This gives the reader the feeling that your ads fit to your website's design.

On the other hand in some cases it may be meaningful to attract a reader to an ad by using eye-catching colors. This is especially true if an ad is placed outside the regular text blocks (e.g. on a page's header or footer). In some cases a red bordered ad on a yellow background has tripled its CTR.

If you'd like to change between several color palettes automatically there is a feature to rotate between several color palettes randomly. You can select this feature when you create the layout code for your website. Remember that in this case these rotating color palettes will be reported in one channel's report. There is no way to get a report for each of the rotated color palette.

Note

It is important to first finish your website's design before you start creating color palettes because it otherwise you may waste too much time to create color palettes repeatedly.
